Team History

While the Atlanta Braves made the move from Boston in 1966, the franchise is still one of the oldest in the league. Indeed, the Atlanta Braves formed in 1871 as the Boston Red Stockings. They went through plenty of iterations in Boston — changing names from the Red Caps to the Beaneaters then to the Rustlers, Braves, and Bees. Finally, in 1966, the franchise picked up and moved to Atlanta, officially becoming the Atlanta Braves. The team has three World Series titles to its name (1914, 1957, 1995), though only one of these titles hails from the team’s time in Atlanta. Additionally, the Braves have a whopping 17 National League Pennants, 13 East Division titles, five West Division titles, and two Wild Card berths.

The Atlanta Braves haven’t always made us Chipper, but they’ve certainly been a fun ball club to watch. From the days of Cy Young-winning pitchers Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz, to the opening day of SunTrust Park, the Atlanta Braves are a force to be reckoned with.

Photo File has been there to cover all of the moments that color Braves history. Take your memorabilia collection to the next level with officially licensed Atlanta Braves MLB photos today!
