Established in November 1966, the New Orleans Saints have one Super Bowl victory to their name (2009) and 11 playoff appearances.

The Old Gold, Black, and White struggled in their early years to even produce a winning record, but they started getting more competitive in the 1980s with their first-ever playoff win. Finally, in 2009, the Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 for their first and only Super Bowl victory.

The New Orleans Saints faced adversity after Hurricane Katrina when their Superdome stadium (now Mercedes-Benz Superdome) was used to shelter displaced city residents. Without a viable stadium for their first games of the season, the Saints had to play their first home game at the New York Giant’s stadium — against the Giants.

The Saints quickly became a rallying force for the city, especially after winning a highly anticipated Monday Night Football game in the first game played in the Superdome post-Katrina.

From Rickey Jackson to Willie Roaf to Morten Andersen and Drew Brees, the Saints have an impressive list of star players. At Photo File, we capture these athletes in their heyday through our incredible sports imagery.
